I found this cute little dish at the Dollar Tree. I wanted to make a magnetic dish for my craft table, a rather alternative pin cushion if you will. I have been busy making journals using bookbinding techniques and I had t-pins and sewing needles scattered about. I knew a little magnetic needle dish was exactly what I needed. It also works great with small die shapes. I have another craft area for jewelry making and I think I am going to need another magnetic craft dish in that area too. Thankfully they are really easy and quick to make.
The following links are affiliates so you can find the exact materials that I used.
Materials:
- strong magnet (Niobium magnet at Amazon)
- ceramic or plastic dish (Dollar Tree)
- adhesive
Directions:
Double check to make sure the magnet is strong enough to work through the dish you have chosen. Just place the dish on top of the magnet and see if a needle is attracted to the dish before you permanently place the magnet.
The magnet I bought at Amazon came with adhesive disks making this craft that much easier. Make sure the magnet is facing the correct direction before placing the adhesive disk. I also removed the label from the bottom of the dish. Then apply the magnet to the bottom of the dish. Only one magnet is needed.
See it works!
Another idea that would also work would be a soap dish. The shallow shape of the soap dish would work well for needles and pins.
