Staying in is the new going out. Nowadays we have so much at our disposal that we hardly need to leave the house. We can order food to be delivered directly to the door. And we can watch movies and TV series on demand. The next time you’re planning a night in with friends or family, try some of these ideas.
Plan
It can be difficult getting everyone together at the same time and in the same place. Friends have their own families to take care of. And families also have their own schedules. So when you can get everyone together, make the most of it. Just because you’re staying in, doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Make it a special night with a little planning.
Decide whether you’re going to prepare a sit-down meal. Or, whether you’re going to celebrate with chips & crackers. Make sure you have all the food/ingredients at your disposal. If you’re planning on cooking, prepare in advance. You don’t want to spend the night in the kitchen while the fun takes place without you.
As well as food, plan your activities. Work out how you will spend your time and what you will need.
Movie Night
Movie nights are always fun. And your own sofa is so much more comfortable than the cinema. Plan your films carefully. Tailor the choices to your audience. Family films will look a lot different to the romcoms you enjoy with your mates. If you intend to make this a regular occurrence, let everyone take it in turns to choose a film.
Someone To Cook For You
If you fancy a bit of a posh meal, but don’t want to go out, get someone to cook for you. There are lots of companies that provide this service. You can rent a chef for the night, and he/she will prepare a slap-up meal for you. This will ensure you have a delicious meal without having to lift a finger. They will even do the washing up!
Pamper Night
If you’re getting together with a group of friends, pamper nights always go down well. It provides an opportunity for you to try a range of makeup and beauty products. So you can work out what works for you before you buy your own. It’s also a great opportunity to share tips and tricks and learn new ways of doing your hair/makeup.
Put together a stack of magazines before the night. Go through them and pick out things you would like to try. Or, create a shared board on Pinterest where you can each add your ideas.
Games Night
Another fun idea is to set up a games night. The possibilities here are endless. If online gaming is your thing, then you have that option available to you. Or, you can go old skool and set up some of your favorite board games. Whether you prefer Parcheesi or Poker, bring along a selection.
The trick to the perfect stay-at-home night is in the planning. Make sure you have everything you need for an uninterrupted night of fun. Prepare the food and ensure you have a good selection of films or games.
