Crafting For Less This Christmas: Simple Ways To Save On Festive Fun

This is a submitted post.

As the nights draw in and temperatures fall, many of us have turned our attention to preparing for Halloween, fireworks, and the festive season. While it seems like the summer has flown by in a flash, Christmas will be here before we know it, and what better way to embrace the seasonal cheer and cut the cost of celebrating in style than letting your creative juices flow? If you enjoy crafting, and you’re hoping to get into the festive spirit early, here are some simple ways to save.

Sign up for discounts

If you have go-to stores where you tend to stock up on supplies in the run-up to Christmas, now is the time to make sure you’re registered with your favorite shops and brands. As well as subscribing to individual mailing lists, it’s also a great idea to join discount sites that send you offers for all kinds of different stores. Once you’ve entered your details, you’ll start receiving emails, and you’ll have access to offers like Home Depot coupons or codes for clothing or hardware stores, for example. You don’t have to make a purchase every time you get sent a discount, but if you’re planning to bulk buy before the festive season arrives, you could save a substantial amount of money.

Recycle old materials and supplies

Many of us tend to buy arts and crafts supplies, use what we need, and then put whatever is left back in the cupboard, often forgetting about it. If you’ve got a stash of supplies, check what you’ve already got and make use of suitable items, rather than automatically buying new stock. If you get into the swing of recycling old materials, you may be able to take on a more diverse range of projects and save cash at the same time.

Organize a swap shop

If you have friends that enjoy DIY and crafts, or you’re part of a group that meets from time to time, it’s a great idea to organize a swap shop. You can bring the contents of your cupboards and swap supplies with others. This means that you’ll have access to items you want or need, and your unwanted things won’t go to waste. Everyone involved can benefit by adding to their crafting collection without breaking the bank, and it’s also fun to get together and socialize.

Share the love

If you’re thinking of investing in new supplies, tools, or equipment to create cards, wrapping paper, gift tags, or decorations in the weeks before Christmas, why not share the love and team up with fellow crafters? You can take advantage of bulk buy prices and split the total, or share more expensive tools or equipment to lower costs. Sharing tools and supplies is also an excellent excuse to spend time with friends and family before the festive season arrives.
