This Easter Egg is made with a collage technique very similar to paper mache. The colors are bright and shine in a reflective manner that doesn't relate well in the photograph. You'll just have to take my word for it, or make one for yourself and see what I mean!
Materials:
- wooden eggs
- aluminum foil
- tissue paper
- mod podge
- paint brush
Directions:
Wrap a wooden egg in aluminum foil. Burnish the foil. I used the handle of my scissors and a towel, alternating between the two.
Paint the foil covered egg with Mod Podge, and apply the tissue paper covering it with more Mod Podge.
Be generous with the Mod Podge. I used the glossy version because I wanted the egg to really shine.
Once you have the egg as you desire, set it aside to dry. The Mod Podge will dry to a clear glossy finish.
I used a leftover piece of foil as a makeshift egg holder.
I received the wooden eggs used in this tutorial at a discounted price. The eggs are made by Woodpecker and are sold on Amazon. The nice thing about the package of eggs is that there are 15 in the pack. If you are comparing the price, many other brands only have 8 or 12 at the most. The eggs are smooth and don't need to be sanded before use. They are great for many different craft applications.
