Echo The Movie Review

We were lucky to get into a preview of Echo this evening before it gets released to the public. The entire family went, it was rated PG but we thought it might be OK for the girls to go, they are 8 and 11. We had to go early and wait in line to get into the theater.

I found parts of the movie to be scary, in the way a surprise birthday can be a moment of shock. My husband was OK with the story line but the filming caused him to feel queazy. I would explain it as E.T. meets Blair Witch Project. My daughters loved it.

The story line is about the coming of age of neighborhoods friends faced with being separated by having their neighborhood claimed for a highway project and them having to move away from each other. Their last night together takes them on an adventure that is the premise of the movie where they find themselves on a journey to help Echo get home.

There were a few comments that eluded to sexual themes. They made me feel a bit uncomfortable wondering if my daughters understood the meanings.
