There's No Such Thing As Too Much Where These 5 Crafting Staples Are Concerned

It’s fair to say that a crafter’s tool kit is their temple. Without this little piece of equipment, every single new creation will require a tedious (and, let’s face it, expensive) trip to your local supply store. This can stem that creative flow and, more importantly, prevent you from undertaking projects as and when you desire.

By comparison, a well-stocked kit means having all the stuff you need to hand, no matter what. That, and the fact that there’s nothing more satisfying than stockpiling supplies, should be incentive enough to turn your attention to this priority. And, to help you get started, we’re going to consider a few key things to stock up on that no crafter can ever have enough of.

# 1 - Paints

Whether you’re painting pictures, photo frames, or a jewelry box, a varied paint palette will ensure that your creative juices can run untethered. That’s why your first steps towards a working tool kit should be to select your paint of choice and invest in as many colors as you can store.

# 2 - Papers

They might not seem like the most interesting crafting addition but never underestimate how fundamental a wide variety of colored papers could prove. From painting to origami and a whole lot besides, multipacks of paper are another thing that you should always set aside.

# 3 - Tape

From washi tape to gaffer tape, clear tape, and beyond, you need endless rolls of this stuff for completion on near enough any crafting undertaking. In fact, with fun colors and designs forever coming to the market, washi and gaffer tape are both pretty hot in the crafting world right now, and it won’t take you long to see why once you start browsing the wide variety of options.

# 4 - Wool

This may be most relevant for knitters, but many crafters find that a decent stockpile of wool can also take them further. From chunky to double knit, investing in different colors ensures that you can get those needles out at a moment’s notice, or even add texture to masks, photo frames, and beyond. As if that weren’t enough, stocking up on wool also means you have easy access to another crafter’s favorite - pom poms!

# 5 - Glitter

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that anyone obsessed with crafts is also liable to have a penchant for glitter. It may not form the basis for projects like the other supplies mentioned, but a touch of glitter really does make every craft undertaking look that little bit better. Whether you’re crafting for kids or want to add a touch of magic for your own enjoyment, then an ample glitter supply is yet another necessity.

Of course, you’ll also want to adorn your craft kit with pieces and staples that are unique to you and the crafts you most often do. But, with these staples already in place, those efforts towards personalization should be a whole lot easier to achieve.
