We are folding paper stars for the 4th of July. This is a fun and easy craft great for a variety of ages. The really nice thing about this craft is you only need a strip of paper to make a star, so this could be an on the go craft. Maybe something to do while you wait for the fireworks to begin! Or make a bunch of them for your tablescape decoration. Have a competition to see who can fold the most in a given amount of time. If you can tie a knot, you can make these paper stars.
Materials:
strips of paper 3/8" x 9 3/4"
Instructions:
We bought a package of paper strips for folding stars at Diaso, a yen store. But you can cut your own from a variety of different types of papers. Copy paper or scrapbooking paper would work fine as well. The measurement given above was the size of the strips in our package but you can make your paper a different size if you desire.
tie a knot with the paper
tuck in the end
fold the entire strip around the hexagon
tuck in the end
push in the sides to make the star shape
To make it easier to understand, I've made a video tutorial for you to follow.
This post is a part of the Creative Crafter's Group monthly challenge. For the month of June, we were challenged to make a 4th of July themed craft. Take a moment to visit the others who participated in the challenge. If you have a 4th of July craft post, feel free to add it to the Inlinks until June 22nd.
