One last minute Valentine Decor made from upcycling. What are they? Toilet paper rolls. It makes a cute door hanger or small space wall decor. A small heart wreath you will have fun making as well as enjoying once it is done.
Materials:
- toilet paper roll
- ribbon
- washi tape
- super glue
- scissors
- ruler
- pencil
- metallic paint
- paint brush
- paper clips
- super glue
Instructions:
To begin, flatten a toilet paper roll.
Mark off the width of the washi tape (use your ruler and pencil to mark)
Cut into the measured pieces.
Cover both inside and outside of the cut pieces while folding them into heart shapes.
I didn't like how the exposed top edge looked so I covered mine with pearl metallic paint.
Use the super glue and paper clips to hold the heart shapes together. Once dry attach a ribbon to hang up with if you desire.
I found the super glue to work the best because it was fast drying and worked well with the plastic-like coating on the washi tape.
Additional Ideas:
Maybe these ideas will spark your creativity:
- You could glue scrapbooking cardstock together to get the same effect.
- You could make the wreath with more hearts for a larger finished piece.
- You could paint the toilet paper roll instead of covering it with washi tape.
