Upcycle a Container

I tend to like boxes and containers. I fell in love with this one. It was from Virginia Peanuts. I wanted to keep it and use it for something. So I cleaned it out and decorated it. Now I use it for organizing stuff. I need to make a few more in different sizes with the same pattern. Here is how I created it.

Materials:

  • a clean container
  • vinyl or stickers
  • tape
  • spray paint (I used Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze)

Directions:

I began by removing the label and cleaning the container of the salt and oil left behind.

I cut the pattern I wanted on my Cricut. You can use tape or stickers or vinyl as a stencil. If you'd like the SVG file for these leaves, you can download it here. [SVG leaves]

I wrapped the metal band at the top and bottom with washi tape because I wanted to leave it silver.

Then I applied the leaves in a random pattern.

Spray the container with spray paint in a well-ventilated area (outside - using a cardboard box)

Once dry, peel the tape and vinyl off the container and enjoy!
