Stress-Free Styling: How To Shop With Confidence

Do you dread going clothes shopping, or do you get excited about deliveries from online stores only to end up sending everything back? If your styling abilities have taken a knock, or you find shopping stressful, here are some tips to boost your confidence and help you put outfits together with minimal hassle.

Shop alone

If you usually go shopping with your friends or your partner, and you find it stressful or anxiety-inducing, try shopping on your own. When you’re alone, you have control over which stores you visit, you can choose exactly what you want to try on, and there’s no pressure to show everyone what you look like in the fitting room. When you’re on your own, you can focus on your individual style, and there’s no temptation to buy things just because your friends like them or to leave pieces on the rail because you’re worried your other half might not like them.

Shop online

If you find that going into shops makes you feel on edge, or you don’t feel massively confident about hitting the mall, shopping online is a wonderful alternative. You can access a vast range of stores, from popular chains and high-profile vendors to independent stores and shops that sell boutique clothing and you can shop in your own time at your own pace. Online shopping is stress-free, and it can also save a lot of time. If you know what you’re searching for, you can use a search engine to find items that are relevant in a matter of seconds.

Be kind to yourself

We’ve all been in a situation where we put an outfit on, look in the mirror and we don’t like what we see. This happens to everyone. If you’re out shopping, and you’ve not had much success, try and avoid blaming yourself or beating yourself up. Every single person has flaws, and not even supermodels look fabulous in everything. Be kind to yourself and accept that nobody is perfect.

Focus on your favorite features

One of the best ways to feel confident in your clothing is to focus on your best features when you’re shopping. The vast majority of people have got body parts they like more than others. If you tend to get down when you try short skirts or dresses on, or you’re self-conscious when it comes to showing off your arms, stick to pieces that showcase the parts of your body that you love. You could opt for maxi or midi skirts, culottes, lightweight jumpsuits or long jersey or cotton dresses if you’re not keen on showing your legs in the summer, for example.
