Recycled Envelope Wrap

Recycle your mailing envelopes into a beautiful way to wrap a present or create a package for carrying pencils, tissues, money, or whatever you can imagine. The size is only limited by the surface of the envelop available.

Items used:

  • Paint (Deco Art)
  • Alcohol inks
  • cotton buff
  • used mailer
  • Duct tape
  • pencil
  • scissor or paper cutter

Cover the mailer's blank surface with alcohol inks or paint. The mailer can be plastic or tyvac.

I chose to decorate the colored surface with paint. I used a pencil's eraser and stamped the paint randomly.

You can choose to cut before or after painting. I painted first, then cut. (It might be smarter to cut first)

Using coordinating tape, I chose to cover the exposed edges to make them sturdier. I cut the tape in half lengthwise. Using only part of the thinner tape in the front. Using the manufactured edge on the decorative surface and folding my cut edge to the back. Then trim the ends. If you use a tyvac envelop, you can sew instead of tape.

Once you have decided on how you want the piece to overlap, hold it in place and tape the edges. Once again I only used half of the width of the tape using the manufactured edge on the front and the cut edge to the back.

Thanks to Deco Art for providing the paint used in this project.
