Juicing Citrus Tips

I have a potato ricer but I don't have a juicer. I recently made a recipe that needed the juice from an orange. A mandarin orange actually, and those little buggers are small. I only needed a tablespoon of juice, but I wondered how many would it take.

Then I remembered a tip I read about juicing. To get more juice, microwave the fruit for five to ten seconds first. I then cut the mandarin orange in half and placed it into my ricer and gave it a squeeze. The mandarin orange wasn't more than about two tablespoons in size it's self but I got a tablespoon of juice out of just one! Give it a try and see if it works for yourself. And if you'd like a ricer like mine, you can find them at Amazon. The one pictured above can be found here: [ricer] At the time of publishing, it was on sale for $11.99 a 60% discount.
