How to Safely Cast a Resin Mold

I recently saw another YouTuber using this Oomoo 30 compound to make a mold and I just had to give it a go. It is a two-part mix. I decided my first mold would be of a few buttons and then I tried rubber stamps. What can you use silicone molds for? Well, many things. You can cast resin, clay, wax, soap, or plaster. However, I did not see anything on the package that suggests it is food safe. So no candy making or cake decorating. I work with resin, soap, and polymer clay. Molds can get expensive so making my own was something I really wanted to try.

Since casting the buttons, I now think the way to do it would be to push the button into the Oomoo 30 instead of pouring it over the buttons. This would eliminate the problem with thickness due to the shank of the button. So that is what I am going to try next.

The second mold I tried was casting from rubber stamps and that turned out really well. I am happy with the results and will be doing more of these in the future.

The pink on the left (behind the actual button) is UV resin and the purple on the right is A + B resin. All the other pieces are UV resin.
