There is some confusion on the internet about when Pet Rock Day is. It could be Sept. 4, 6, or the 14th. Whenever you decide to celebrate, it is definitely in the month of September. So why not craft with some rocks. It's very easy to do.
Materials:
- rocks
- paint markers
- paint
- brushes
- permanent markers
- Mod Podge
Directions:
You can decorate the rocks, turn them into a pet, or add a special sentiment.
We began with a bag of rocks from the Dollar Store.
Our plan was to use permanent markers and paint markers on the rocks. Most of the colors were transparent and didn't show on the rocks.
Then we painted a layer of white acrylic paint. Drawing on the painted surface actually removed the paint, so that didn't work either.
Finally, we painted with acrylic paint, that worked the best.
To protect the surface of the rocks we painted, we used a layer of Mod Podge.
